I bought my first Flat-Coated Retriever in May of 1990. I was new to the Sport of Dogs but eager to learn. Ravin, Ch SR Lyric Queen Of The Mountain CDX JH NA NAJ WCX CGC Can CD WC, showed me just how much fun Flat-Coats and dogs shows are. Thanks to her, Blazin has become what it is today. At 12, Ravin earned her NAJ agility title!! At 13 1/2, she won 1st place in the Veteran 11 & Over class at the 2003 FCRSA National Specialty. On February 9, 2004, we said goodbye to Ravin. A sad day at Blazin Kennels!!

Ravin, the foundation bitch of Blazin Kennels, had her first litter in July 1993 out of Ch Woodsong's Catch The Wave SH WCX. Augie, Ch Blazin's Alluvion Solitaire CD OAP NJP WC CGC, was the only puppy in the "A" litter. I quickly learned how it felt to turn great puppy people away. Augie more than made up for her lack of littermates and spent her veteran years running agility. On December 1, 2004, we said goodbye to Augie, just 1 1/2 weeks after winning the 11 & Over class at the FCRSA Supported Entry in Maryland.

The "B" litter was born in April 1995 out of BISS Am/Can Ch Snowdown Canis Major CD. We took no chances and had Ravin sonogrammed and x-rayed. We knew we were having multiple puppies. Ravin presented us with five, 3 girls and 2 boys. Cosmo, Ch SR SHR U-CDX U-AG1 Blazin's Back O' The Moon UD RN AX NAP NJP JH WCX CGC HOF, got an early start winning a major in his first show at 6 months of age. Completion of his Utility title put Cosmo into the FCRSA Hall Of Fame. We lost Moses (Ch Blazin Burning Bush CD), and Mizzy (Blazin's Belle of Baltimore) at 12 and Starlet (Ch Blazin's Brightest Star), the last littermate, at 15.

Ravin was only bred twice producing a total of six puppies. Five of the six are finished Champions. We are very proud of Ravin and all that she has given us.

Our "C" litter out of Augie and BIS/BISS Ch Flatford Zeus The Major God JH WCX was born in November 1996. Augie presented us with 5 boys and 1 girl. The "C" litter took to the rings and at the age of 2, 4 were Champions. At the Texas National, Augie who was 6 weeks pregnant, took 4th in a large brood bitch class under a breeder judge. We are very pleased with this litter and especially proud of Dino, Ch Blazin's Carpe Diem UD SH WCX CGC HOF, who is a Hall of Fame dog, group winner/multiple group placer and finished in the top 10 in both Breed and All Breed for 1998 - 2001. Dino's brother Jesse, Ch Blazin's Cill Padraig CD JH OA NAJ WCX, has earned 7 titles!! Their sister Junebug, Ch Blazin's Cosmic Thing NA NAP NAJ NJP CGC, earned 4 agility titles as a veteran!! Four of the "C" litter lived to be 11 and 2 lived past 12. At the age of 14, Junebug is still living the life of luxury here at Blazin!!

Augie's second litter, the "D" litter out of Ch Bertschire Something Wicked NA NAJ JH WC, was born April 1998. She had four girls and three boys. Like Augie's first litter, this litter started to shine in the breed ring at an early age. Drake, Ch Blazin's Di-Namic Drake CGC, won a 4 point major in his second show at just over 6 months and finished his championship at 15 months. Berry, Ch Blazin's Dressed To Impress AX OAJ, finished her championship at 21 months and working in agility. Vita, Ch Blazin's Doppelbock UD AX AXJ OAP AJP JH WCX CGC HOF, earned his WC the first try, finished his CH at 21 months and earned enough titles to become Blazin's 3rd Hall of Fame dog!! Lin, Ch Blazin Dunlin Of Tidalflats JH Am/Can WC CGC, won both her majors from the puppy class, earned her Am/Can WC the first try and finished her CH prior to her 2nd birthday. Of the seven, all but one of the puppies lived to be a veteran with 5 living into double digit years.

Augie's third and final litter, the "E" litter out of Ch Bertschire Badbad Leroybrown RE NA NAP, was born June 2000. She had four girls and two boys. Piper, Ch Blazin's Enchanted Forest CD RA AX AXJ NAP NJP CGC, won both majors from the puppy class and finished her championship at the 14 months. She had a successful show career having earned 5 Best of Opposites and 6 Best Veterans at FCRSA supported entries. We said goodbye to Piper just 9 1/2 years after saying hello. Her sister Prue, Ch Blazin's Eternal Flame CD RE AX AXJ NAP AJP, is retired from competing but loving every minute of her life. Cricket, Ch Blazin's Evening Star CGC, and Blaze, Ch Blazin Elijah's Chariots, both finished their championship with 3 majors and Best Of Breed over specials. Their brother Sombra, Blazin Evans Family, has both his majors and sister Tripper, Blazin Everlasting Escapade CD, is pointed. We said goodby to both Blaze and Tripper over the years.

At the Colorado National, Augie took 3rd in a large brood bitch class with Piper and Blaze. An accomplishment that she improved on at the Chicago National by taking 2nd in the brood bitch class with Dino and Prue. This was Augie's 3rd placement in the brood bitch class at a National Specialty!!

Our "F" litter out of Augie's daughter Piper and Swedish Import Almanza Screwdriver was born in December 2002. Piper had 2 boys and 5 girls. Mesa, Ch Blazin's Fire On The Mountain CDX RE finished with three majors owner handled. Mesa also earned her CD and a Dog World Award from the Novice A class and her CDX just before her third birthday in three straight shows! Mesa's sister Cinder, Ch Blazin's Fairest, Cinderella finished her Championship with a 5 pt. major and her other sister Luna, Blazin's Far Side of The Moon, earned two points in her 1st show! We have had to say goodbye to Mesa and her brother Potter, Blazin's Fallingwater but pray for many more veteran memories from their littermates.

Soon after the "F" litter was born, Salasana kennels in Finland, had a litter of 13 puppies out of Cosmo and their liver bitch Ronja (Mei Dan Haukansilma). We brought back Eagle, GCh Salasana Double Arrow CD RE JH OA AXJ NJP VFCR1 HOF CGC, and Sky, Ch Salasana Blazin Arrow RN, and in their 1st 5 shows, they won Winners or Reserve at all but one show!! Eagle is a mulitple group placer, finished #9 Flat-Coat in the US in 2004, won a Judges Award Of Merit at the FCRSA National Specialty in 2006 and 2007, qualified for the FCRSA Hall Of Fame in 2008 and won Best Opposite In Veteran Sweeps at the FCRSA National Specialty in 2011. All five of the Salasana kids that traveled to the United States are Champions!!

Piper's second litter, the "G" litter out of Ch Grousemoor Jam Dandy CDX JH AX OAJ WCX HOF, was born May 25, 2004. She had four girls and three boys. On the same day, Prue's first litter, the "H" litter out of Eagle was born. Prue had 2 boys and 1 girl. Faith, BOSS GCh Blazin's Gardez La Foi CD GN RE NA NAJ NAP NJP NF CGC, is a Multi-Group placing Grand Champion and won Best Of Opposite at the FCRSA National Specialty in 2011. Her sister Breeze, Ch Blazin's Gone With the Wind CL2-S CL2-F CL2-R, finished her Championship all owner handled and her housemate Salem, Ch Blazin's History Repeats, is a Champion. Salem's brother Aston, Blazin's Hot Wheels CDX JH AX AXJ NF WCX earned his CD and WC before the age of two and picked up his final JH leg just 4 days after his birthday. Aston has since earned his WCX, his CDX and numerous agility titles. We have had to say goodbye to Grommit and Charlie from the G litter and Salem from the H. It is hard to lose these dogs.

Piper's third and final litter, the "I" litter out of Ch Dexmoor's Shoot The Moon UD JH OA OAJ WC HOF, was born March 27, 2006. She had six girls and two boys. Chilly, Ch Blazin's Ice Mountain RN, picked up her 1st two points at her 1st two shows and finished her championship with a 5 pt major at a supported entry. In a visit to Canada, Chilly earned 10 points in 2 shows defeating over 90 Flat-Coats. She has 24 points towards her Grand Championship. Chilly's brother Isaac, Ch Blazins Isaac The Lucky Knight finished his championship with 4 majors and her brother Arthur, Ch Blazin's Isle of Avalon CD RN JH WC CGC finished his championship with 3 majors. Her sisters Jill, Ch Blazin's Insatiable Jilly Bean and Sofie, Ch Blazin's Impossible Choicealso finished their championships!! At the Rhode Island National in 2009, Chilly and Sofie helped their mother Piper win 2nd place in a large brood bitch!!

Faith's first litter is the "J" litter. Eight puppies, 4 girls and 4 boys, were born on April 7, 2008 out of Ch Flat-Castle's Happy Hour. Marley, Ch Blazin's Jamaican Me Jolly Mon, finished his championship in California at 14 months. His brother Marley, Ch Blazin Jamaican Me Happy CGC picked up 2 five point majors in just three shows and won a Judges Award of Merit at the FCRSA National Specialty in 2011. Their brother Rudy, GCh Blazin's Joie De Vivre CD JH WC, finished his CH with 4 majors and his GCH with the same. He is also a multiple group placer and has earned his CD, JH and WC. At the 2011 FCRSA National Specialty Rudy won Best of Breed. Not to be outdone by their brothers, the girls have been showing too. Joule, Ch Blazin's Joule To Infinity, finished and has 8 GCH points and her sister Jurel, Ch Blazin Jurel Of Tidalflats won Best of Breed over 3 specials for her first points and has since earned GCH points. Zoomie, Blazin's Just Drive is home growing up but did place 3rd in Sweepstakes at the 2009 FCRSA National Specialty.

Our most recent litter is the "K" litter. Eight puppies, 4 girls and 4 boys, were born on September 8, 2009 out of Ch Athercroft Notforamelon Bucks. Kaje, Ch Blazin's Keeping Memories Alive, finished his championship in California at 14 months also earning his RN. His sister Gooey, Ch Blazin's Krazy Glue finished her championship and immediately started picking up Grand Championship points. Gooey now has 24 GCH points including 6 majors. Brother Jack, Blazin's Karibbean Black Sparrow and sister Keira, Blazin's Keira of Avalon, have both their majors. At the 2010 FCRSA National Specialty, both Gooey and pointed sister Katie, Blazin's Kiss Me Kate placed in both sweepstakes and regular. We look forward to even more accomplishments from this litter!!
